Resume and Teaching Philosophy

I would consider myself to have an enthusiasm that spreads to others when engaged in an activity that I enjoy.  This has come in extremely useful in classrooms where students many times not only prefer being elsewhere, but many times would be doing another activity during a lecture, which unfortunately is common in many classes, especially Social Studies.  This can stem from a disinterest in simply listening and taking notes.  I hope to give my students an appreciation for history that they may not have had before through interactive, student-led discussions and activities that they may not have equated with Social Studies.  I enjoy keeping up on current trends in both literature and technology for use in the classroom.  The current literature, especially for young adults can become exceptionally useful in the classroom for assisting in getting the point of certain lessons across to our students.  In addition, bringing in the newer technology into lessons keeps the students as well as myself on their toes and brings a variety to the subject that I believe is needed.
